If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.
Has your life turned out as you planned it? If it has, good for you. But I bet for 95% of us, it hasn’t. If I think back to when I was 20, I honestly can’t remember what my plan was. I guess it was kind of like the American dream, a wonderful husband who adored me, two kids who were perfectly behaved (a girl and boy ), a great career, a really nice house with a white picket fence, etc.
Some things that were not in my plan – divorce then blended family, children with problems, rainbow hair (not me, my daughter), job displacement, life being so hard, getting old so quick😊 I could go on but will spare you.
Although we often feel like our plan is preferable, God knows best. As Jesus prayed and asked God to spare him on the cross, he said “yet not my will, but yours be done” (Luke 22:42). He trusted Him in the worst possible scenario.
Often when things aren’t going according to my plan, I sometimes get in there and try to steer the ship. That pretty much never turns out well. I am going to continue to try to place my hope in God and know that He is working out a plan that is much bigger than me and will be much better in the end.

This is so relevant to today. God completely changed my plans when I went to college to be a librarian. He kept bringing up Bible college in prayer. That one step of obedience has completely changed the course of my life and been the foundation for so many things. I’m so glad I gave up my plans and followed Him.
